Tinder Krauss Tinder Hearing Center was opened in 1968 by Tinder Krauss Tinder, Inc., a retail optical company founded in 1923 in Lexington, Kentucky. Since our inception, Tinder Krauss Tinder Hearing Center has been committed to quality, professional care of our patients. Over the years, we have worked closely with fellow professionals as well as local physicians, for the comprehensive care of our patients.
Tinder Krauss Tinder Hearing Center is owned and operated by Jon Durkin, BC-HIS, ACA, with corporate offices located in Lexington, Kentucky, and branch offices in Winchester and Danville. Jon and his wife Vicky Durkin, BC-HIS ACA, are both board certified by the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS).
Both are also graduates of the Audioprosthology program offered by the International Institute for Hearing Instrument Studies (IIHIS). Both Jon and Vicky are licensed as Specialists in Hearing Instruments in the state of Kentucky.
Jon, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, has also served two times on the Kentucky licensing board. His other affiliations include: past president of the Hearing Aid Association of Kentucky, past president of the International Hearing Society, based in Michigan, and past chairman of NBC-HIS. He has spoken at conferences in Kentucky, Flint, MI, Nashville, TN, Palm Springs, CA, Montgomery, AL, Tucson, AZ, Columbus, OH, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia, PA. He offered oral testimony at the FDA hearings on hearing aids in 1994 in Rockville, MD, which was covered by CNN.
Jon has also spoken on behalf of NBC-HIS to Japanese dispensers in Tokyo, Japan, in 1998. He has over 35 years experience as a hearing health professional.
Vicky Durkin was on staff in a medical practice for 16 years in Russellville, Alabama. Originally educated and licensed as a nurse, she gravitated to the hearing instruments area while in Alabama and subsequently became licensed by the state and board certified by NBC-HIS. Both Jon and Vicky currently serve on the NBC-HIS exam committee, which writes the exam questions for the board certification exam for hearing health professionals throughout the world.
